A day at Mediacorp Variety
One of my pass time hobby since young at home is watching our local productions. Have always been a big fan of watching all the local serials and variety shows. After all, that's all we can do when we were young right? I have always thought that it sounded weird from friends who say they don't watch TV show. Hmmm, then what do they do at home?
Anyway, its very individual. For me, I love max! Although the story lines might not be as exciting or romantic as the Korea shows but at least its much closer to reality.
Had this chance together with a few other ERM queens, Avril, Sherrine and Christine to film for one of the episode for new variety show hosted by Quan YiFeng and Terry that will be aired in November 2016 at the soon-gone Caldecott Broadcasting Centre located at Andrew Road. With much excitement, finally got a chance to see how it is like being a part of a show.
In this program, there will be 3 artistes (Vivian Lai, May Phua and Eevlyn) who will bring their own outfits and change accordingly to the scenarios given to them. And for the 7 of us, we will give our experiences and opinions on their outfits. Sounds like an easy task isn't it? But the filming took almost 6 hours! From lightning to setup and position, all were planned in detailed.
Although I did my own makeup and hair, lucky to be offered touch up by the professional! In split seconds, had a gorgeous hairdo.

Here are the 7 of us, while waiting for the actual filming to start
Finally at about 8, we were ready in our position and more wefies
Finally, it was wrap at almost 12 midnight! My whole body was aching from siting and keeping still in 1 position, so afraid of looking sloppy or fat on TV. But in actual fact, the myth is true. I definitely looked much fatter on screen.
My experience with the artiste
They all looked exactly the same on and off screen. Vivian is the usual happy and bubbly person we all know. May is mature as compared to what I thought and Eevlyn looks gorgeous! Yi Fong is great in hosting, filling up all the empty lines and her quirky character. Terry is the other host and only male artiste! Not sure who he is but judging from his appearance, he should be the next up and coming star. Standing tall at 1.85 from Taiwan.
Selfies is a must at all occasions! Ha
It was indeed an experience to be part of the production and looking forward to many other opportunities!

Modelling for Dolce 2 Dolce
Considering myself a petite size lady, ok lah, not in terms of size but height, I have always trouble finding a gown that would suits my frame and also, able to cover all my weakness. Hence sincere and genuine advices are really very important. A wrong choice might end up looking horribly wrong or the pictures you took might haunt you for life.
And it DID happens to me a few times when I don't listen to advice.
So I learnt to be humble and accept whatever advices and critics given to me
Chanced upon Dolce 2 Dolce last December while hunting for a gown for my photo shoot and prejudging for Mrs Singapore World 2016. Met Mei from Dolce 2 Dolce. We chatted for quite a while before starting to try on the gowns. And impressive, she knows actually what suits you best and what should be kept. Ha.
Here's the gown that she picked. Gorgeous isn't it?
And so, I have always been grateful meeting her. Whenever I would need to attend any functions, Mei will prepare the gowns even without me physically at the shop.
Happy to be invited to be their model for their new launch of their wedding gowns

Journey of Mrs Singapore World 2015/2016
It has been almost a year since I was crowned the 1st Runner-up for Mrs Singapore World last December 2015. The decision to join the pageant was the best decision I have ever made which has added colours to my life and also, discovering a new me.
Was at Miss Singapore Beauty Pageant 2016 over the weekend and it has brought back so many memories!
By far life has been great for me, blessed with a supportive family and a group of friends who has been there for me except the year of 2012. That was the darkness chapter of my life, having to face many big decisions. I have lost all my confident and at some point, I didn't want to step out of the house. But with the encouragement from close friends and parents, I am glad to tide thru.
And so, how did this pageant thing came about and what made me walk out from my comfort zone?
It was one particular day in September 2015 that I came across the audition for Mrs Singapore World. Although I was keen to join but I was quite hesitant and have doubts about my ability.
Back then, I was a typical working mum, working day to day and on weekends, swamped with house works and kids. Not that I wasn't happy about my life but at one point, you will just think back and asked if you have done anything for yourself. Watching the kids growing up is definitely a blessing but I felt I needed to step out.
Secondly, besides than stepping out, I have wanted to fulfil my dreams that I have in the younger days and also, to see if this platform could help me to reach out to more people in need.
And so I went. The 2 months spent during the pageant journey was totally amazing! From catwalks to posing to talent show and learning how to present yourself in front of cameras. Never before, I came to understand the importance of taking care of yourself! Ha, from the minute you are awake, the skin care routine to what you eat, to what u drink and what time you sleep!
From my 1st Talent show that I flunk totally to stepping out in the International stage performing a solo magic show without any glitch was one of my greatest achievement. The experience I had during the Mrs Asia International held in KL was awesome!
Throughout this amazing journey, one thing for sure is I have learnt to be a confident woman, discovering a new me and believing that dreams do come through.
You can read more about this amazing Mrs Singapore World journey in my older post.
Winning of the titles and sub-awards will definitely remain the highlights of my life. I am so proud of all the achievements and happy that I can share all these beautiful stories and pictures to my grand children when I am old.
A big thanks to the ERM team again, especially Ms Angela Tay, who has given me so many opportunities that changed my life entirely. Able to know all the ERM queens and fellow contestants is extremely a blessing. Throughout this one year, many has shared with me their stories, experiences and that really motivates me to be a better person. I have learnt so much about life and some, had become good friends.
And.. wait no more friends! Step out of your comfort zone to join the upcoming Mrs Singapore World 2016/2017.
Believe me, regardless if you win or not, the experience you gain and journey will bring no regrets to your life!

All of us, the queen sisters are so excited and blessed to be able to wear these gorgeous gowns designed by Ada, Kenny and Sia from Rent A Gown. Both Kenny and Sia have designed and custom-made many queen's gowns and national costumes. Thank you for making sure we look our best in all our events!
